In 1973, Frenchman Alain Leprince settled in Terrace Vale in the Hunter
Valley. The rich, fertile soils would allow him to combine the fruits of
this land with the French tradition of hand crafted passion. La Vie is the
culmination of that magic - Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, masterfully
crafted to deliver the sparkling joy for which the French are world renowned.
Tasting Notes
The essence of magical sparkling wine is to create a base wine or assemblage
that is delicate and fine yet has good structure and flavour. To develop
the unique La Vie style a selection was made from a number of small batches
of wine to create an assemblage that is a blend of Pinot Noir (60%) and
Chardonnay (40%). The assemblage was then placed in bottle and allowed
to mature on lees in a cool cellar. It is the time in bottle that
gives La Vie its fresh bread like aroma, complexity and fine bead.
Winemaker's Notes
The La Vie bouquet is a beautiful mix of fresh bread, apples and summer
berries, reminiscent of lazy summer picnics. Persistent streams of
fine bubbles twist their way to the top of the glass when
the wine is poured. The
initial “mouth feel” of the wine has a distinctive fluffy texture;
balanced by the palate which is refreshing and long with
a crisp finish.
