Design Approach
Our design philosophy is built on 5 Pillars; developed through years of research, lived experience, and architectural practice.
5 Pillars to Ageing-in-Place
-
Thoughtful layouts that adapt to changing needs without institutional features. Generous circulation, flowing spaces, and zero-threshold access. Walls structurally reinforced to allow handrails or ceiling hoists to be added later with minimal construction. Design that works across the full spectrum of human need, from someone with a pram to someone requiring a hoist, without ever feeling clinical. Materiality chosen for adaptability; finishes that can be modified easily as needs change, without stripping the home of its character or personality. Universal design has embedded accessibility features that are invisible until it matters.
-
Strategic placement within walking distance of public transport, supermarkets, pharmacies, GP clinics, and community amenities; encouraging independence and fitness as a natural part of daily life.
-
Developments that foster genuine community among residents at a similar life stage. Shared spaces and architectural design that encourages human connection; layouts that create natural crossing points, communal areas that draw people together without forcing it. Loneliness is one of the greatest contributors to depression and cognitive decline in the ageing population. La Vie treats community as infrastructure. Smart design ensures that even residents who value their privacy find themselves part of something, particularly in the moments when they need it most.
-
On-site support services, advanced safety features including camera surveillance and keyless entry, and concierge or carer services scaled to the development. AI and IoT technology integrated to detect falls, monitor wellbeing, and alert family or emergency services when needed. Shared across the community to keep costs manageable. Safety that is invisible until it matters.
-
Owner-occupied properties that build equity over time. Shared service costs; carers, concierge, leased community vehicles, distributed across residents to make premium services affordable. Capital gains tax exemption on primary residences. Complete elimination of exploitative leasehold structures. La Vie gives people a home they own outright, that works for them financially across their lifetime and beyond.
